Children's Ministries:

First Through Fifth Grade

For more information regarding our children's Sunday programming, please contact Dee Buchanan, Director of Children's Ministries or Katie Morgan, Associate Director of Children's Ministries.

  • Worship and Sunday school

At both the 9:00 & 10:30 services,  first - fifth graders should come to the sanctuary and worship with their families through the Children's Message (during the Children's Message, the children gather at the front). Following the Children's Message, the children are led by their grade-level shepherds to individual workshops. On the first Sunday of each month there is no Children's Message during worship, so all children go directly to their Sunday school rooms on the first floor. However, please know that children are always welcome to participate in worship and communion.

Our curriculum is based on a Workshop Rotation - a concept where classrooms are designed into creative, kid-pleasing workshops that teach Bible stories. Our workshops include drama, art, audiovisuals, computers, Bible games, puppets and music. Classes are divided by grade level to rotate to new workshops each week for five weeks. During the five week period only ONE Bible story is taught.

Wonderful Wednesday is a children's program (Kindergarten through Fifth Grade) which includes dinner, choir, instruments, arts, crafts and Bible stories. We sing in service about once a month. The highlights of the year are the Christmas Eve Children's Pageant and the annual Spring Musical. It is a great way for children to express their inner creativity in a spiritual format. WW is also a wonderful way for our children to connect with the church during the week. They gain valuable experience and self-confidence, and it gives parents a one and a half hour break in the late afternoon! It is super-fun!
