I Am a Steward
The “I Am a Steward” campaign is a year long focus by the Stewardship Ministry to change the false perception that stewardship is only about money and finances. It is not. God has entrusted each of us with specific talents and gifts and it is the responsibility of each of us to care for these gifts and use them in the best way possible. The gifts are not limited to financial ones or talents but to taking care of the earth, our community, ourselves, our families, and our fellow man and woman. Look within yourself for your talent and gifts and you will see that in fact you too, are a steward.
"The Dash"
A memorial service was the service held for Mrs. Martin Luther King, Sr., the mother of our nations' greatest civil rights leader. At the service, Rev. Otis Moss from Cleveland, Ohio, said in his brief memorable presentation that he wanted to talk about "the little dash in between." He said that the marker on Mrs. King's grave would have her name and a couple of dates which would tell when she was born and when she died. The dates would have a "little dash in between." After Rev. Moss described Mrs. King's great life, he shifted his attention to the audience. He said that everybody has what might be considered just a "tiny dash" in between the dates, but that with God that "tiny dash" is everything. The question, he said, is what we do with that "tiny dash" which represents our life on earth. The "little dash" can be a glorious experience. What are you doing with your "little dash"?
